“We can bring many Diaspora Armenians back to their roots through culture”

The “Pan-Armenian Forum of Performing Artists” was held within the framework of the 4th “One Nation, One Culture” Pan-Armenian Cultural Festival at the RA Ministry of Diaspora on July 28, Participating in the forum were well-known representatives of song and dance from Armenia and the Diaspora.

“In an age of globalization when the world is changing rapidly and getting smaller, Armenians must maintain and defend their national identity. As the Armenian army ensures the security of the Republic of Armenia, you, as cultural figures must ensure our spiritual security. In that sense, artists, as well as our fellow distinguished Armenian educators are the nation’s heroes,” said RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan in her opening remarks and attached importance to the important role of Armenian culture in the preservation of the Armenian identity.

The Minister emphasized the need of creating a plan of actions and implementing them in order to solve the key cultural issues. Hakobyan particularly stressed the importance of the Diaspora Armenian community heads’ implementation of correct cultural policies, which will help assimilated Diaspora Armenians “return to their roots”. “We can bring many Diaspora Armenians back to  their roots through culture. Let’s try to combine our efforts to develop the Armenia-Diaspora partnership and strengthen relations with the Homeland,” added Hakobyan.

Among speakers were RA Distinguished Cultural Figure, President of Armenia’s National Dance Art Union Karen Gevorgyan, RA Distinguished Cultural Figure David Ghazaryan, President of “Sayat-Nova” Ensemble Tovmas Poghosyan, as well as heads of Diaspora Armenian cultural ensembles and representatives of Armenian communities.

Minister Hakobyan proposed to organize festivals for singers, dancers and individual performing artists, as well as create a coordinating group of dancers that will study and gather information regarding the needs of Diaspora Armenian dance groups.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the participants of the “One Nation, One Culture” festival, as well as the heads of the Diaspora Armenian communities and benefactors for supporting the festival.
