The Department of Armenian Communities of the CIS of the staff of the RA Ministry of Diaspora is a structural subdivision of the Ministry staff that coordinates the cultural ties and partnership between the Republic of Armenia and Armenian communities of the CIS.

The department carries out the following functions to implement the goals and objectives by the order established by RA legislation and the Ministry’s charter:

1. develops programs for partnership between Armenian communities of the CIS countries and the Republic of Armenia,
2. ensures participation of the Armenian communities of CIS countries in pan-Armenian programs, as well as supports non-governmental, political, scientific, economic, educational and cultural events,
3. receives and coordinates complete and integrated information regarding Armenian communities of CIS countries,
4. participates in organizing receptions, mutual visits and different events for representatives of the Armenian communities of CIS countries,
5. contributes to collaboration between Armenian community organizations of CIS countries and the Republic of Armenia,
6. supports the full integration of Armenians in the social, political and economic life of CIS countries,
7. supports the activities of Diaspora Armenian organizations of Armenian communities of CIS countries in preservation of Armenian identity, as well as preservation, development and dissemination of Armenian cultural heritage,
8. participates in analysis of the situation related to the department’s field of activity based on program proposals,
9. prepares drafts of legal acts, suggestions, conclusions and other documents in line with the department’s functions and objectives, as well as develops the clarifications and guidelines regarding those functions and objectives,
10. discusses the letters, appeals, suggestions and complaints addressed to the Ministry or related to the department’s field of activity and provides fair and proper solutions to the issues raised,
11. prepares proposals, references, statements, letters of commendation, reports and other records within the powers of the department.
