Conferences
The international conference on “Religious Sectors of Armenians: Challenges and Opportunities” kicked off in Yerevan on December 9. The conference is organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora, the “Hyksos” Foundation and “Noravank” Scientific-Educational Foundation.
Attending the conference were RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Armen Hayrapetyan, Head of the Department for Ethnic Minorities and Religious Affairs of the RA Government Vardan Ascatryan, Executive Director of “Noravank” Scientific-Educational Foundation Gagik Harutyunyan, representatives of political, religious, non-governmental organizations and Armenology Centers and scientists from Armenia and the Diaspora, as well as students and others.
Issues related to national preservation and inter-religious solidarity of religious sectors of Armenians, the measures for providing an atmosphere for cooperation and other issues were discussed during the conference.
Among speakers were Executive Director of “Noravank” Scientific-Educational Foundation G. Harutyunyan (“Issues related to Armenians’ religion and belief in the context of global developments”), Head of the Department for Ethnic Minorities and Religious Affairs of the RA Government V. Ascatryan (Relations between Armenians of different faith and religion and the issues of unification”), Director of the Center for Development of Armenian Studies in Schools in Lebanon Vardan Tashchian (“Interdenominational partnership in the Lebanese-Armenian community: Experiences and Perspectives”), Director of “Noravank” Scientific-Educational Center Aristakes Simavoryan (“Forms and mechanisms for the consolidation of religious sectors of Armenians”), as well as scientists from Armenia, Germany, Syria and other countries.
