ANDRANIK Y. ARSHAKYAN

Andranik Y. Arshakyan was born in Yerevan in 1960.


In 1976, he graduated from N 194 School in Yerevan.


In 1981-83, he served in the USSR Armed Forces.


In 1988, he graduated with a post-graduate degree from the Moscow State Culture Institute.


In 2000, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at the St. Petersburg State Institute of Foreign Economic Relations, Economics and Law.


In 1999, he graduated from the Moscow School of Political Studies.


In 1988-92, he was a leading expert at the RA Ministry of Culture.


In 1988-95, he worked as an assistant professor, then professor and senior professor of the Faculty of Culture at the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute after Kh. Abovyan.


In 1992-94, he worked as head of department at the RA Ministry of Defense.


In 1994-96, he was the first deputy of RA Government’s authorized representative in Shirak province.


In 1997-2005, he was first pro-rector at the Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Bryusov.


Since 2005, he has been executive director of the Association of Compatriotic Unions.


Since 2010, he has been Head of the Department of CIS Armenian Communities at the RA Ministry of Diaspora.


Andranik Arshakyan is a candidate of historical sciences and is a participant of the Artsakh war.


He is author of the book “Dying Unconscientiously is Death, Dying Conscientiously is Immortality” and “Struggle for Existence in Artsakh”, tens of scientific articles and numerous publications dedicated to the Artsakh issue.

Arshakyan is also a member of the council for publishing the “Karabakh War 1988-1994” encyclopedia.


He is married with a son and two daughters.
